1. Introduction
Welcome to the Rane mixer review, if you haven't heard of the Rane corporation then let me tell you right now that they make the best mixers. Over the many years of deejaying I have been through about 4 mixers and the faders would always fail about 6 months into daily abuse, then about a year ago I purchased my first Rane mixer (TTM-52). Immediately I fell in love with it, this mixer is solid like all Rane products there are no corners being cut every piece and knob has been thoroughly researched. The fader lasted about 1 year which was much longer than I ever expected considering that it was a VCA fader not a magnetic one which doesn't have any contacts, soon after that Rane finally solved the bleeding fader annoyance with the creation of the TTM-56. The 56 inspired me to create this page, this is the best mixer I have ever used and the fader and volume controls are magnetic which mean they never ever bleed! It's true they don't I've had mine about 1 year I abuse the hell out of it daily and it's perfect.
1a. The Rane TTM-56
$699.99 @ Guitar Center
First off the price tag, this mixer is expensive and may not fit the budget of many deejays that may be first starting off but it's worth every penny and it's an investment that you will love every time you spin. If you feel this mixer does not match your price range look into getting a stanton mixer with a focus fader, some reccomendations can be found in the gear section of this website.

Also the face plates can be changed and interchanged with other rane users they come in these fresh colors which can be purchased at www.rane.com or www.turntablelab.com for 40$ - 50$.

Ok let's get down to the cream filling..
1B. Quick Overview of changes and improvements.
The jacks have a slight change to TTM-52&54 series. The PGM 1 and 2 Jacks were moved over and there is now a power switch which .The 52 and 54 didn't have a switch and the mixer was on all the time which I thought was annoying. They still have the telephone jack type power supply plug. Be careful not to break the lil plastic tab on the end because its not like a phone cord where you can buy another, you must buy a whole new power supply. I broke one already it was $20. In the middle you have the jacks for Rane's proprietary FlexFx effects loop which allows assigning post-fader Program 1, post-fader Program 2 or both to the effects loop. A Wet/Dry pan control gives the user total control of how much processed signal is in the mix. With the effects loop post-fader, reverb and other delay effects respond to both Channel Fader and Cross fader operation. Having the effects loop is really dope for radio DJ's and DJ's that are very much into sound effects. As a scratch/party DJ I really don't have a use for this but you might. This mixer has these huge ground wire fasteners for each table. These suckers never loosen up and will not fall out during a gig. If you are familiar with rane you will get instantly attached to this mixer because the setup really isn't that much different from what your used to.
