| Ortofon makes the top of the line DJ needles for all types of DJ's. I used to own a pair of Ortofons so I know they take a lot of abuse from scratching and me constantly moving my equipment around on the road. They are the dopest needles in my opinion for starters but they are very expensive. These needles don't require any setup just screw them into a pair of 1200's are you ready to start pleasuring yourself.. musically that is..
Below are the different Ortofon needles and some words from the Ortofon people as well.
"DJ's all over the world claim very high demands to their professional
equipment, among which the cartridges ``plays" their decisive part by
realizing the scratching, back-cueing, and live artistic performance,
as a big part of the show. Reliability and robustness is vital, when the cartridges night after night will have to withstand these demands in environments with extreme sound pressure and vibration.
Scratching and back-cueing impose heavy mechanical stress on the
cantilever and its rubber bearing. Therefore, the Ortofon disco cartridges
are equipped with cantilevers made from aluminum tube with increased
wall thickness. Special attention has also been paid to the attachment
of the bearing and the design of the bearing itself. This means that rough treatment will neither damage the cartridge nor degrade its stability.
The OrtofonPro cartridges were the first to combine the unrivalled Ortofon
sound quality with the ruggedness that is a must for professional use.
Many years of experience from producing disco cartridges, and a close
contact to DJ's, have resulted in several lines suitable for all tone arms
and all amplifiers. The Ortofon disco cartridges are available in ½ inch
versions for mounting in standard head shells or in the elegant integrated Ortofon Concorde design - for direct mounting in tone arms with standard sockets. For easier cueing, the nose of all the Ortofon disco cartridges
has an extra large cut-out which makes the stylus freely visible from above, and further, the tip of the cantilever is fluorescent."
What I like best about the Ortofon needles is that they look really nice on a pair of 1200's and they come in really fresh colors too. Starting with the best here is the awesome line up of Ortofon needles. If you buy the set it comes in a quality velvet case with a cleaning brush and two extra styli. |

| Ok I know what you're probably thinking. What the hell is the difference they all look the same Status!!
It's true they all look exactly the same other than the colors of them, but actually they perform very different when it comes to sound and durability. Simply put here's what up with each one.
All of these needles perform like a dream and they are all amazing products just some are slightly better than others.
What makes the difference??
How easy they skip and the quality of the sound.
The Pink Ones - The Best Needles money can buy about 139.99 each.. (Yes each) Very well worth it these needles don't skip even with serious abuse and have incredible sound.
The Blue Ones - The most popular of the high performance needles from Ortofon that many top DJ's use for every application. These needles are perfect for Party DJ's that are turntablists on the side.
The Yellow Ones - These are made by tonar with the compliance from Ortofon they perform somewhere in between the blue and black series.
The Black and Silver Series - The most economical of the Ortofon series.. By themselves they are amazing needles and I have used the silver ones. They are great but just don't have the same feel as the pink or blue series.
